Lots of personality and character in a peaceful and beautiful location. Log fire is a great touch and the farm is easy to find. Peter is a great host with questions answered and responded to quickly.

If you like rustic and rural this is the perfect spot! The location is absolutely stunning and Kirsty and Peter made us very welcome. Having their wonderful cafe next door was also a delicious treat. The Calf Pen was beautifully restored and had thoughtful touches such as electric blankets, water bottles, sheepskin rugs and fairy lights, making our stay very cosy and romantic. Thank you so much! We will be back!!! Xx

Fabulous little find. Only stayed one night this time, could be more another time. Peter was a great host, great communication beforehand & offered a fab pub recommendation for dinner. We hoped to explore the area but circumstances prevented this time so we will have to return. Rustic cosy and comfortable at it's best, ideal place to step away from hectic lives.

Was a lovely stay and having the cafe right next door for breakfast was delightful. I thought it would be cold but once we got the fire lit it was lovely and the electric blanket helped a lot. Lovely host and lovely area too!

All in all, a great, if unusual, experience. The accommodation was exactly as described. So, yes, it was spartan in terms of the lack of insulation, the lack of en suite, etc. But we knew precisely what we were getting. It was cold, but the wood burner (partially) and bedding - thick duvets and electric blankets - (very effectively) made up for the ambient cool. The building itself is minimally but elegantly converted - as you can see in the photos. The bedroom, in particular, is delightful, retaining the character of the original calf barn. Voluminous dry robes (wearable, waterproof duvets, in effect) were provided for visits to the adjacent toilet and shower block. Peter couldn't have been more helpful, and the cafe - which was opened for us on our first morning for an excellent breakfast - will be a real asset when it is fully open. As long as you as you are clear what the accommodation does and doesn't provide, there is no reason why, like us, you wouldn't have a great time.

We three cyclists arrived this morning soaked and dripping in heavy rain and were made exceedingly welcome by the hosts. The freshly baked scones and a sausage sandwich were top drawer. This was our second wet visit and is now on our permanent list of regular weekend cafe stops.
